The artist Lara Kobal
Lara Kobal was born in 1981 in Koper, Slovenia. She has, after her degree in Visual Art Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education, (Department of Fine Art Education, University of Ljubljana, 2005), taught Visual Art subjects in kindergarten, elementary, secondary and high school and worked as an assistant for Didactics of Visual Art Education at the Department of Fine Art Education (Faculty of Education Ljubljana, University of Ljubljana ) and at University of Primorska (Faculty of Education Koper). She has also conducted a lot of artistic workshops for children, pupils and students in primary, secondary, high schools and university and for mental patients in a working-therapeutic centre.
Throughout the years she combines her artistic creation with the pedagogical and academic work. As a professor of visual art pedagogy Lara Kobal is aware of the importance of her personal art work as well as her professional development with students: » I am aware that my professional field is very demanding, because every visual art professor should find the right equilibrium between teaching, in the academic world also researching and between his own artistic expression. In my opinion it is very important that as an artist I put a lot of effort in my artistic growth, and at the same time for me it is of great importance that I share and spread my artistic knowledge and enthusiasm for the visual art creation and cultivate it with pupils, students, adults. «
Lara Kobal in 2016 finished the doctoral study in Visual Art Pedagogy at the Department of Fine Art Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana, with the Ph.D. thesis “Visual art education in slovene and italian minority primary schools”.
In addition to formal education, she also attends classes in the field of relations at the private Educational Center Eksena. »These programs gave me the support and strength to do what I believe in, they let me finally allow myself to create, to take the time to paint and simply enjoy it. Without any requirements and plans. Just simple artistic creating. Learning about the relation that I have with myself and others has opened in me the creativity that has been manifested through painting, and for this inspiration I am truly grateful. «
Lara Kobal had found her true essence in the artistic expression, especially in painting and drawing. She participated in various individual and group exhibitions and art contests in Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Serbia, France, Bosnia and Hercegovina. Her artworks got published in various art catalogues and magazines.
In the year 2018 The Ministry of culture of Slovenia assigned her The status of independent cultural worker – painter and pedagogue.
The author lives and creates on the Slovenian coast. She teaches at the University of Primorska, the Faculty of Education Koper.
